THE JOYFUL NOISE!

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, al ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing."
(Psalms 100:1-2, King James Version)
Have you ever thought about why we have music in church? Is it used to just fill time or entertain? Or does it have a more important, God-ordained role?
The Bible abounds with references to music, and music continues to have a very wondrous and special place in worship. It lifts our hearts and souls, releasing us to soar with the melodies and strains of the instruments and voices. Music opens our hearts, alowing us to feel the depths of God's love within. Music energizes our bodies and spirits, or it relaxes them, creating an expansive space of calm and peace. Music is an indispensable aspect of our health, whether it is because of the vibratory quality of the sound waves as asserted by Charles Fillmore or the ineffable quality of the spirit of music that reaches into our very souls.
We at Columbine Unity are committed to including music in our church life through joy singing and musical performances at our services, sponsoring concerts and dances, and sharing of new thought music through cd's in our book store and by our performers. If you have suggestions or comments about the music you hear or wish to hear or participate in at Columbine, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I want to thank the members of the Columbine Choir for their faithful volunteer service this spring. They have shared their joy, love and talent with me and with the church, and I feel confident in saying that we have grown musically as well as spiritually this year.
