Path to Belonging
Most people have a basic need to feel they belong. Being part of a spiritual community can help you gain that sense of belonging. We recognize, though, that it’s up to each individual to develop connections in order to feel like they belong to any community. To help you connect and gain a sense of belonging, we have created our Path to Belonging, which includes a list of suggested spiritual activities. These are meant to help you grow, learn Unity teachings and develop relationships within Columbine.
Path to Membership
If you are looking to step into that next level of commitment to Unity Columbine Spiritual Center, our path to voting membership is a list of required spiritual activities that we feel are a minimum every voting member needs to complete.
Columbine is a self-supporting ministry, which means it takes many people to operate a community of our size. Voting members are committed to ensuring our community is sustainable by providing their time, talent and treasure to Columbine. When you devote your time and financial resources to Columbine and understand our teachings, you will feel a greater sense of belonging and feel more supported, which can change your life for the better in many ways.
We Inspire Personal Transformation

The Five Principles of Unity
FAQs
01
WHAT IS UNITY?
According to Unity World Headquarters (unity.org), Unity is for people who might call themselves spiritual but not religious. It is for those who sense the depths of their own being and celebrate the awareness of a power greater than themselves.
The teachings in Unity bring together ancient wisdom with new interpretations of what it means to be alive and human. Unity inspires different ways to think about the force of love and intelligence that many people call God.
Some of what you’ll find in Unity might sound familiar and other parts brand-new. Although the principles of healing and prosperity taught in Unity have now been scientifically explained, the ideas must have seemed radical when they were put forth by founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, co-founders of Unity, beginning in the late 1880s.
02
IS UNITY A CHRISTIAN DENOMINATION?
Unity is an approach to Christianity and the bible is our main textbook. We follow the teachings of Jesus, which include love, forgiveness, and Oneness, but we do not interpret the bible literally.
Instead, we look for deeper meanings within the stories of the bible to be able to apply them to our own lives. In this way, the stories have more meaning for us as they can be used to help us better understand our lives and/or provide us guidance in moving forward.
03
DOES UNITY BELIEVE IN HEAVEN OR HELL?
Not in the way most people have been taught in their childhoods. We do not teach that heaven and hell are destinations that we go to when we die. Unity teaches that heaven and hell are states of consciousness, which we create right here on earth with our thoughts, emotions and attitudes. Life is eternal and all of us are created in the image and likeness of God; we are all innately good.
04
DOES UNITY TEACH THAT WE HAVE TO ACCEPT JESUS AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR?
Unity teaches that Jesus is our Way Shower, meaning he showed us the way to live a God-centered, spiritual life. He was a man who was deeply in touch with his divinity, and he expressed from that awareness while on earth. The only begotten son is the Christ, the pattern for potential perfection.
All of us are inherently human and divine. We are all made with the same amount of potential and it’s up to us to make choices that help us live an abundant, joyful life. Living from an awareness of our Christ nature saves us from seeing our lives from only a worldly view.
05
IS UNITY THE SAME AS UNITARIAN?
Unity and Unitarian are two separate denominations of Christianity. Please click https://www.unity.org/resources/articles/unity-unitarian-universalist for a clear explanation between the two, written by a Unity minister and a Unitarian member.
